The iconic Basil Hayden is mixed by eighth-generation master distiller Freddie Noe with bourbon that has partially matured in California red wine casks.
The whiskey was created by Noe with aperitif consumption in mind.
Since the release of toast and soft smoke in August of 2021, this is the third addition of the Basil Hayden line. Beam recently commemorated the 30th anniversary of their small batch line, which was developed by sixth-generation master distiller Booker Noe and includes Basil Hayden, Booker's, Baker's, and Knob Creek. Now that Freddie is in charge of the brand-new Fred B. Noe Distillery in Clermont, his grandson is heading innovation at Beam. The drink attempts to please both wine and whiskey connoisseurs.
