Brown-Forman to Acquire Gin Mare

Louisville, KY-based Brown-Forman Corp. has beefed up its gin presence. The company announced on Sept. 6 that it has reached an agreement to purchase the Gin Mare brands from Vantguard and MG Destilerías.

The deal will add Gin Mare and Gin Mare Capri to Brown-Forman’s growing portfolio.

Gin Mare is a Spanish gin with a Mediterranean-inspired recipe of botanicals, including Arbequina olives, thyme, rosemary and basil. Gin Mare Capri, introduced last year, is made with Italian bergamot and lemons, along with Gin Mare’s four principal botanicals.

Founded in 2010 by the Giró Family of MG Destilerías and Alfonso Morodo and Antonio Pardo of Vantguard, Gin Mare today is sold in more than 70 countries. It’s the largest ultra-premium gin brand in the world, according to IWSR.

Brown-Forman, founded in 1870, owns Jack Daniel’s, Woodford Reserve, Old Forester, Herradura and Korbel, among other brands. The company acquired the premium Fords Gin in 2019.
