Hibiki Blossom Harmony

This week's speciality offerings don't stop with the Van Winkle whiskeys.
Two brand-new, extremely limited Hibiki whiskies are available: a cherrywood-finished mix and a 30-year-old whisky. While High West unveiled the 10th edition of A Midwinter Night's Dram accompanied with a distillery-exclusive special to celebrate the 10th anniversary, Knob Creek introduced an 18 year old bourbon that marks its longest release to date. Grandeur Batch 11 from Scotland, which has been aged for 28 years, was just released.

This Hibiki expression, like other Hibiki expressions, combines whiskies from Suntory's grain whiskey distillery Chita, as well as its malt distilleries Yamazaki and Hakushu. Chief blender Shinji Fukuyo likes to experiment with a variety of wood types, and picked the cherry wood barrel for this one.

This album pays tribute to the sakura, the Japanese name for cherry blossom.
The cherry blossom season is a significant holiday in Japan, and the sakura is the country's national flower. For the Japanese, the flowering has deep symbolic importance, representing both the joy and beauty of life as well as its fleeting nature.
