King Ranch Edition of Old Forester
For this limited edition, Old Forester partnered with Texas's King Ranch, the nation's biggest ranch and the origin of American ranching.
The bourbon is made from a batch of barrels that have been highly charred and is finished with charcoal made from mesquite trees that were cut down on the property.
This Kentucky bourbon is not the first to use mesquite charcoal to impart a hint of Texas flavor. The film Wild Turkey Longbranch, which Matthew McConaughey and I collaborated on, follows a similar methodology. In order to produce a whiskey that reflected his Texas heritage, McConaughey collaborated with Wild Turkey master distiller Eddie Russell.
Texas residents adore whisky. And with this new King Ranch Edition, one may begin a whiskey collection honoring Texas landmarks.
