Seven Tails debuts spiced brandy
The creation of Seven Tails Spiced, The Black Fox, was inspired by the ‘success of the spiced rum category’. Grape brandy was aged in oak barrels in France for a minimum of 12 months, then naturally flavoured with traditional French spices as well as vanilla and coffee bean. The 40.7% ABV spirit offers notes of candied vanilla and subtle black cherry that subside to a dry, yet rich coffee finish. Seven Tails Spiced is described as ‘slightly drier and more adult than the typical spiced product’ and more affordable, with a price tag of £27.99 (US$33.50). Seven Tails is also hoping to attract home mixologists and bartenders with the new spirit. The product is recommended mixed with cola, ginger ale or pineapple juice. It can also be used as the base for an Espresso Martini by combining 50ml of Seven Tails Spiced with a shot of quality espresso, and either sugar syrup or honey. Seven Tails Spiced is initially available in the UK and will soon launch in the US, Italy, Singapore, and Germany from January 2023, among other markets. The new product is available to try in UK bars, including Schofield’s, Jane Eyre and Blinker Bar in Manchester; and Lost Property Office, Three Sheets and Soho House venues in London. Mother Mercy in Newcastle was the first bar to stock it. The distiller recently expanded its presence in the US after gaining a distribution deal with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (SGWS). The company also produces Seven Tails XO, a blend of brandies, Armagnac and Cognac from France, ranging in age from three to 30 years.
